New chapters can be established where there is a group of people eager to do this work, a Latin Mass venue with a collection of vestments which needs the support of a Guild chapter, and a location where the chapter can meet.
The people setting up the chapter need not all have a high level of skills, but there does need to be one or two people in the group who can organise the work and guide the others.
The first step in setting up a chapter is for those who wish to do so to attend Guild events, particularly Sewing Retreats, and if possible also training days, London Vestment mending days, and the events of a nearby chapter. In this way they can get to know the nature of the work, and pick up skills they may not already have. Above all, they must come to appreciate the Guild’s special ethos, and be ready to follow this ethos in their local work.
