England and the UK


Watts & Co The jewel in the crown of English ecclesiastical fabric suppliers and vestment makers. They have an embroidery and vestment making workshop at their premises in London.

Ormsby Family run church supplier, furnisher and vestment producer based in Scarisbrick. Their workshops create bespoke vestments, church linens, metalwork and woodwork.

Mary Collings Suppliers and manufacturers of church furnishings, clerical garments and vestments. They also deal in second-hand and antique ecclesiastical wares.

Vanpoulles Suppliers of all sorts of church furnishings and equipment including textiles, trimmings and also hardware used for hanging altar frontals and the like.

VV Rouleaux Ribbons and trimmings for a variety of uses, mainly secular. Some beautiful metallic braids and tassels that are particularly well-suited to vestments.

M Perkins Makers and suppliers of ecclesiastical textiles, braids, fringes and trims.

Merrick Day For cotton sateen linings in a variety of colours. Very efficient dispatch.

Sudbury Silk Millks Suppliers of silk fabrics including those woven by Humphries Weaving.

Croft Design Ecclesiastical outfitters who also sell fabrics and trims for making vestments at reasonable prices

Whaleys of Bradford Heritage British firm supplying fabrics to various industries. We buy all our calico here, for toiles, interlinings and patching.


Italy


Gammarelli The world famous clerical outfitter and vestment maker to many Popes. The Gammarelli family are still in charge and you'll find at least one of them on the shop floor (which doubles as a cutting room) when you visit. You'll be warmly welcomed, whether or not you buy any of their gorgeous ecclesiastical brocades and damasks. They also stock lining fabrics to go with everything, and decorative orphreys and trimmings, which is useful.

Lisio Extremely luxurious fabrics for soft furnishings and upholstery. Some silk damask which, though secular, are suitable for liturgical use.

Desta Amongst the polyester vestments you can find some useful lace and other trimmings.

Passamaneria All kinds of trimmings in a tiny shop not far from Gammarelli's. An Aladdin's cave.

Paganini Dressmaking and soft furnishing fabrics, amongst which there are some silk damasks and polyester moirĂ©.

Alfis Haberdashery. Some large hooks and eyes were brilliant replacements for missing pieces of cope clasp.

Luigi Bevilacqua An old mill with showroom and shop, in Venice. You'll find luxury fabrics for furnishings and haute couture such as lampas, brocade, damask and velvet. Alton Brooke is the English agent, who is happy to send out samples.

Vaticanum for fabrics and trimmings.

Parmatex Textiles, based in Greece. Good for trimmings.

Carlhian French makers of gold and silver threads, braids and trimmings.


USA and the rest of the world 

La Lame for supplies of all kinds, including bespoke trims.

Renaissance Fabrics Suppliers of fabrics for historical costume, including corsetry. Some beautiful silk damasks and brocades.
